Invisalign Teen – A Teenager’s Story

Thursday, April 19, 2012 by Lolli 8 Comments

It’s hard to believe that KitKat is approaching the end of her Invisalign treatment. It feels like yesterday that I was writing about KitKat’s smile and her need for braces. I never would have guessed (though I did hope) that because of my article, my daughter would be chosen for a full Invisalign “scholarship.”

before INVISALIGN

Before Invisalign (18 months ago) – Age 13

From beginning to end (she is almost done with her very last tray!) the Invisalign process has been so pleasant. Of course, I wasn’t the one wearing the braces, but I did hear her feedback along the way. I thought that this would be the perfect time to chat with her about her experience wearing Invisalign Teen.

And the best thing of all? Take a look at how amazing her teeth are looking now! (And, yes, she IS wearing her Invisalign aligners in this shot)

after INVISALIGN

At the end of Invislaign Treatment – age 15

Interview with KitKat about Invisalign Teen

How did your Invisalign feel when you first started? Were they awkward?

At first they felt sort of weird. It took a while to get used to it but it really wasn’t too bad. And they didn’t hurt much at all!

What kind of reactions have you gotten from your friends when they find out you’re wearing Invisalign?

My friends are sometimes jealous, but most of them just think its really cool that I have Invisalign. A lot of them still call them retainers just because you can take them out so I guess some of them don’t exactly understand that they actually move my teeth.

What were your favorite and least favorite things about your Invisalign treatment?

I think that my favorite thing about Invisalign is that you couldn’t tell I was wearing braces but you could really tell that my teeth were moving. Something I didn’t like about them was that it was a hassle to eat any time I wasn’t sitting down to a scheduled meal which was annoying. Also it was a little hard to clean them and make sure I didn’t have anything in my teeth before putting them back in. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives though.

Was it hard to keep your Invisalign in for so many hours a day?

For Invisalign you have to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day which originally I thought was going to be really easy but it was a bit hard to only have two hours a day to eat, brush my teeth, and just make sure my Invisalign were in.

What were your office appointments like?

The office appointments were very good. They were super fast and convenient. I just had to go in and check to make sure that my teeth were moving ok and then get my new braces. It was in and out and really easy.

Would you recommend Invisalign to your friends?

Yes! I would recommend this to everyone who needed braces!

How do you feel about being on your last set of aligners?

I can’t believe that I’m already on my last tray. My teeth really do look good and I’m so glad I had the chance to wear Invisalign braces. It went so fast and it was super easy I didn’t have to put much effort into it. It was a really good experience.

About Invisalign Teen

Like traditional braces, Invisalign Teen effectively straightens teeth, but because of the clear, near-invisibility of the braces, treatment is very inconspicuous. It is easy for teens to continue their favorite activities such as playing sports and musical instruments – activities that can be challenging or uncomfortable with traditional metal braces. They are removable (love that!). Since teens can take the aligners out to brush and floss, they can maintain normal, healthy hygiene during treatment.

Most importantly, it works.

Disclosure: KitKat received a full Invisalign treatment (which included the braces and all of her doctors visits) from Invisalign Teen, which was a huge help to this hard-working mama! I was compensated for my time to write this post. All opinions included here are our own.

Congratulations! Love the before and after pictures. We have looked into Invisalign as well for our daughter, now 13. It seems that she will need another option to correct her bit before clear braces are an option.

The turnout is amazing. I know my daughter Hailey is going to need braces and this might be the perfect option for her.

She looks like a whole new girl! So beautiful. She can tell how much she has grown and matured over the year and a half as well. The perfect teeth is just icing on the cake.

WOW! That is quite the transformation! Kitkat was beautiful regardless, but you can definitely see how much of an improvement Invisalign has made on her teeth. Congrats!
