Kalso Earth Shoes – Review and Giveaway

I don’t know exactly what led up to my chronic foot pain, but I vividly remember sitting in the car with my mom two summers ago in throbbing, excruciating pain. I couldn’t believe that feet could cause so much whole-body pain.

Two summers before that day, I started having heel problems and discovered that plantar fasciitis was common in my family. A little while after I discovered my plantar fasciitis, I had pain in the joint of my big toe. Walking became less and less enjoyable for me.

I visited a podiatrist and was told that I should consider getting some fancy orthopedic shoes and wear them all the time. I had no interest in orthopedics, not only because of fashion but because I enjoy slip on shoes and sandals and hate being restricted.

It took me years to discover that there were shoe companies out there that made shoes that were comfortable and GOOD for my feet as well as fashionable.

After a lifetime of buying cheap shoes, I was finally convinced that a quality pair of comfortable shoes was worth any price.

This month, I was given a pair of Kalso Earth Shoes to test. I was intrigued by the description on the website:

It’s a story that goes back more than 40 years. Anne Kalso, a Danish yoga master, made the insightful observation that the daily raising of the toes relative to the heels could actually help people attain a physical feeling of wellness like that experienced in the yoga position – ‘Mountain’ pose. Inspired by the thought that wellness, in its most organic form, could be part of an everyday experience, she set out to develop the very first Kalso Earth® Shoe.

Although the Kalso “Negative Heel” design is different than the other wellness shoes I have been wearing for the last year and a half, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable my feet were in them. I wore them for a half day shopping trip (a good test!) and came home with no foot pain. I did, however, notice that I could feel my calf muscles working differently all day, which I took as a really good sign.

  9. Those Fawn clogs are the ones that I just tried on at the store today. I also tried on the short boots (Claring). Could not decide which ones to get so went home to decide.

  68. I am swooning over The Link Too – size 9 – in almond. I too have recently started to suffer from foot pain and I’m searching for something casual that’s not flat-footed. I’m seriously considering buying a pair, but to have the chance of winning a pair would be fabulous, especially since I’m expecting babe #3 in 4 weeks (saves a shopping trip!).     Hubby started being picky about my shoes when we were married a dozen years ago – it’s amazing how much of a difference quality shoes make!

  155. I like the Integrate Too in Black. I wear a uniform to work every day and we have to wear a rubber sole shoe. It’s hard to find something comfortable that looks good. My last pair resembled clown shoes. These would be perfect.
