What You Should Know Before Starting Invisalign #InvisalignMom

I am a member of the Invisalign Mom Advisory Board and my daughter, Necco, is currently receiving her treatment for free.

What You Should Know Before Starting Invisalign #InvisalignMom

When Necco started her Invisalign Teen treatment a few months ago, she had a perfect resource for information and advice: her older sister. My oldest daughter, Kim, is away at college now but thanks to texts and SnapChat and Facebook and phones, we can stay in pretty close contact with her. Kim was excited to hear that Necco would be getting Invisalign a few months ago, so while they were together this summer I took the opportunity to sit down with the two of them to ask a few questions about their experiences with Invisalign – from the perspective of an Invisalign newbie and an Invisalign veteran.

Kim: Finished Invisalign Teen 2 Years Ago

What advice would you give someone just starting Invisalign?

Enjoy it! Take before and after pictures to see the difference. But most of all..wear them! It’s tempting to not wear them, but it’s worth it to be consistent. I always tried to keep water with me when I was on the go in case I ate anything and didn’t have time or a place to brush my teeth and trays.

What was the hardest part of your Invisalign treatment?

The hardest part for me was unexpected eating, especially if I didn’t have a way to clean my teeth after eating.

What was your favorite part of Invisalign?

It was easy and I never felt self conscious about having “brace face.”

What surprised you most about Invisalign?

It was so easy and I really enjoyed it! Invisalign can fix almost any problem that anyone has with their teeth. I was amazed how much it was able to do with my teeth.

Why are you glad you had Invisalign?

My teeth are straight, and because of that I am so much more confident in my smile and myself.

Necco: New Invisalign User

What do you wish you had known about Invisalign before you started?

I wish I’d known that the only thing I could do with them in was drink water.

Do people often have questions when they find out you have Invisalign? What do they ask?

They ask me if it’s a retainer and how long I had braces for. They also ask how they work and what I can do with them in.

What is your favorite part of Invisalign?

My favorite part of having Invisalign is watching the blue dots disappear from the top trays as I wear them. I also think taking the aligners out can be fun sometimes.

Does Invisalign make you feel more confident (especially compared to regular braces)? Why?

It does because I know that in a while my teeth will be all fixed and there won’t be a bunch of gaps everywhere. They’re also very unnoticeable to lots of people so when I tell them I have Invisalign, they’re surprised because they didn’t notice them before.

Invisalign is usually about the same price as regular braces – depends on the need of the patient. Definitely worth checking into it!

Very interesting comments about Invisalign I wonder if it is more expensive then regular braces. They look easy to use, and do not show that a person is wearing braces!
