More State Park fun!

Sunday, June 22, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

This afternoon, we drove down to a State Park close to our house for a BBQ with some friends that will be moving soon. We had hot dogs and hamburgers, chips and soda, pasta salad and cookies. Apple left a bench-full of vanilla sandwich cookies stripped of their frosting middles…

After dinner, we played at a really fun park made almost exclusively out of recycled tires. The only negative….everybody was in desperate need of a bath after their play. As we were leaving the kids were begging to come back again soon.
They loved this enormous tire swing:
Even Daddy enjoyed it!
Apple felt much more comfortable riding on the tire swing with Daddy to hold onto.
Someone must have had fun designing this tire dragon. I know my kids enjoyed climbing on it!
Apple kept saying that he needed to “drive” the dragon. I guess just behind the eyes was the driver’s seat.
This picture is out of order (but oh well!)–I took this shot of Noodle relaxing after dinner at the picnic site. I just liked the way it turned out.
Each of the kids took a turn on the rope swing. All of those black specks on the ground are chopped up pieces of tire.
My little monkey kids had no problems holding on to the rope-thing.
Kiwi was having so much fun, she was even willing to let me take her picture!
My favorite! Kiwi was pushing Taco so he’d go really fast. He was flying so fast that his hat got knocked to the side. Speaking of wearing hats, Apple likes to wear his hats backwards, and every time he puts his hat on, he declares, “I’m wearing it the Dude way.”
So, local ladies…..I’ll be planning another trip to this park in the near future. There are also picnic tables (pack a lunch?) and a not-too-long walk to the lake next to the park. It’s only 10 minutes away and it’s free on weekdays! Want to join us??
