My Search for Fall

Thursday, October 7, 2010 by Lolli 22 Comments

As a California native I have said for years that, while I do love the Fall on the East Coast, with the vibrant colors and trees with changing leaves….the “four seasons” were not a big deal to me. I love the temperate climate of the Bay Area, where it never gets too hot or too cold or too humid for my taste.

That’s what I’ve said for years. And yet this year, my section of Maryland is strangely behind in the Fall scenery. I have found myself enjoying the cooler weather – I’ve even put socks on a few times this week – and yet I am missing the reds and yellows and browns of Fall.

The other day, after I had dropped the kids off at school, I took a stroll through my neighborhood to take a closer look at the emergence of the Fall foliage. It was there. Mostly hiding. But trying to break through. In another week, I bet Fall will finally be in full bloom.

And I’ve got my camera ready for it.

My search for FallStill looking for Fall

How is the Fall shaping up in your neck of the woods? Do you love Fall colors as much as I do?

This is my monthly break from co-hosting Photostory Friday with Cecily, so today’s linky is a little different. Link up any pictures….it can be your Photostory Friday post for this week or another favorite from the last month. I look forward to seeing your pictures!

I love fall. Kind of. I love the cooler weathers but I’m always a little apprehensive when fall arrives because I know COLD weather will soon follow. :(
I don’t know what part of MD you’re in but I used to live in Chevy Chase. I love that area. If it wasn’t for all the snow, I might consider moving back. :)

Our fall colors seem late here too in the south. Our summer was painfully hot and dry. Not sure when our fall will get here. Hopefully soon! We like to take weekend drives to look at the trees.

The photo templates are a photoshop action from The Album Cafe. I get compliments on them all the time! I love them!

We’ve had a lot of rain, too! It’s all good….but after several days of rain, it does get old ;)

That’s how Fall was for me in California, too. The cooler air is such a nice difference after summer!

You know, just in the last couple of days since I took those pictures the leaves have finally started to turn red. It’s about time! :)

Despite the fact that we are so crowded in our townhouse (which is meant for 4 people, not 7!) it really has been a good place for us.

Those photos are lovely! I love the fall weather – of course I’m spoiled with a pretty mild fall and winter here in sunny California (born and raised). We have been having some pretty unusual weather though. It was hotter than normal for a couple of days, and then we had a couple of days that were much cooler than normal. I too had to put away my flip flops and throw on some socks for a couple of days. Right now, however, the sun is shining beautifully on this lovely Friday morning!

    Peace,
Michelle ~ fellow SITS Girl ;)

Wonderful pictures. I love fall colors, but we don’t get them around here. I live in a desert. Fall to us just means it’s no longer 114 degrees. And we are very happy about that. The AC has been off for 3 days, but the news tells me it might need to come back on for 104 degrees over the weekend.

I know it will be here soon though. In a startling blaze of glory!

your photos are beautiful and what are you using for the templates? they are very fun. I’m supposed to be working on my Sunday School lesson right now, not reading blogs. So if I get time to do a photo post, I’ll link to you :) Again, gorgeous photos. (As always).

I’m in Florida and we have cooler weather than normal & it feels wonderful. Leaves don’t really change though. I smile just thinking about how crisp the air is.

It hasn’t started changing except on the bradford pear trees. Those always change first!

I love the collage that you did at the end there, very nice. Oh, and how incredible that your kids can walk to school. We, too live in a townhome that we thought we’d never still be in, but here we are eight years and two kids later in the same place. I only wish we were close enough to walk to school too!
