When I was growing up, in a very female-dominated house, there was an unspoken rule:
“If you don’t want Dad to eat it, then don’t leave it anywhere he can find it….or label it so that no one would ever question who it belongs to.”
Note: not even that would stop dad every time.
Luckily, we haven’t had quite as much of a challenge with that with my husband and kids….until my oldest son became a teenager who seems to have an endless pit for a stomach. He is never one to turn down food offered to him. And yes, if someone leaves something out and it looks tempting, it probably won’t last very long. Recently, we dealt with “The Mystery of the Missing Cupcakes.” No one admitted to eating them, although *almost* everyone admitted to seeing them on the kitchen table. Finally, my son admitted that he didn’t remember any cupcakes but he wouldn’t be surprised if he had eaten them.
I’ve gotten into the habit of hiding those special just-for-me treats in my bedroom because anywhere in the kitchen seem to be fair game for anyone else in the family (ahem….the 15-year-old!) to eat.
So when I picked up a box of Skinny Cow Chocolately Dipped Ice Cream Sandwiches in Vanilla Bean Dream, I faced a very serious dilemma. Obviously, my 2nd floor bedroom would not be an ideal place to keep my delicious indulgences out of certain family member’s reach. It’s a *little* too warm up here this time of year for an ice cream treat to last very long.
If I put them in the freezer in the kitchen, they would inevitably disappear. I mean, LOOK at these. Who wouldn’t want to gobble these up?
Just listen to this description: “Skinny Cow Chocolately Dipped Ice Cream Sandwiches in Vanilla Bean Dream: Reach for vanilla bean bliss with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate wafers and veiled in a rich, chocolatey coating.”
I ate my first Chocolately Dipped Ice Cream Sandwich in the car on the way home from the store. I figured that one was safe. But what to do with the rest of the box?
I came to my conclusion as I was snapping pictures for this post. My teenage son was sitting on the other side of the kitchen, eating lunch. Or 2nd lunch. Or maybe early dinner. I’m not sure.
And I had opened two.
I took a big bite out of mine and then…I offered the 2nd one to him.
Did he bat an eye at the fact that I gave him a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich? Not a bit. He said, “Oh wow. Thanks!” and devoured it.
You see, Skinny Cow isn’t just for women, it’s an indulgence for all. Even 15 year old boys.
Now I’m excited to try the other Skinny Cow flavors: Vanilla Bean Dream (the one I bought), Ultimate Chocolate and Creamy Caramel.
Remember, just because it comes in a pink box doesn’t mean the men in your life aren’t going to want to try it. Bond over your shared love of indulgent products and enjoy the good life together – just make sure there’s enough for you both!
You have GOT to try these. And take my lead: share them with someone special. Bond over cream ice cream and chocolatey goodness.
