What Bloggers Do When Snowed In

Monday, February 15, 2010 by Lolli 22 Comments

(Note: This post is not full of shameless plugs for me. I’d never do that!)

I’d love to say that I cleaned my house from top to bottom. That I baked with my children all day long and made crafts with them every day of our “vacation.”

I DID do quite a bit of shoveling, I will say that.

And I did SOME baking and crafting.

But I also spent a decent amount of time creating new Facebook accounts…..Now, I’m not asking you to join me or anything….but I might feel better about all of the time I’ve wasted spent on this if you joined/friended/followed/stalked me there. For those who are already my friends on Facebook, I have made this new account so that I feel a little better about connecting my blog and my “real” life together. I will most likely spend the majority of my Facebook time on this new account.

I have NOT been spending all of my waking time on the computer. But I have been working on a new affiliate program for my company, PeanutButter – Language learning that Sticks. Pretty soon, I’m going to be sharing some really cool info for you guys. So stay tuned….And if you’d like to learn about becoming an affiliate for the best foreign language program out there (and have a cool button like the one I’ve got over there….) just give me a buzz. Really.

And then there’s Ukumi. Have you noticed the cool new gadget that I added on my sidebar? OVER THERE—-> It contains a bunch of my favorite things. Simple. Want to know some of my favorite websites, my favorite camera equipment, my recommended books? You can find them on my Favorite Things gadget. Take a minute and take a look. I will continue adding new things periodically.

And what’s even cooler is that you can add your own experiences with my favorite things OR your own favorite things right to it. Try it out. Want to know my favorite lipstick? My favorite toothpaste? You can ask me that, too, and I might share….

Or maybe not.

But guess what?!? I am no longer snowed in!!

When I got home from church today (after piling 5 of us into the truck and sending Necco and Twizzler with a neighbor), our next door neighbor, who works for a landscaping company, and who has been gone plowing snow for work, brought a Bobcat to our court and cleared everything out.

Bobcat to the rescue

It was the most beautiful Bobcat I’d ever seen.

I hardly even noticed all of the mud from the broken pipes in my court, I was so happy.

If you’re wondering about the view, I definitely didn’t take a picture of my neighbor from an upstairs bedroom window because I was embarrassed to have him see me take his picture. I just liked the perspective….

Watching the Bobcat in action was way better than any movie I’ve seen all year.

See, I told you–who needs snow plows when you’ve got neighbors like mine?

Yay for neighbors with bobcats! I’ve also found myself quite fascinated with heavy machinery and snow removal.

That is a beautiful sight! I wondered if you would go out there and ask to take his picture. Did you figure out whose pipes broke?

Also, we had a ton of fun at Target today. Thanks!

That’s odd that the link didn’t work. Here’s the post:
    https://foodfunfamily.com/2010/01/wordpress-vs-blogger.html

I’ve found that the easiest way to find a post on my WP blog is to search at the very top search box (top right corner). The other thing you can do is look through my archives (see the tab box on top of my sidebar), but it helps if you know what month you’re looking in then. I admit it’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for. The other way to find that article is to look in the “tags” under “blogging.” Hope that helps!

Congrats on getting your Facebook all figured out! What a challenge, huh?

Two things: 1. I was on Unexperienced Mom’s blog and saw you left a link to a post you wrote about Blogger vs WordPress. But when I clicked on that link, it brought me to a log in page? I was on my Blackberry at the time. Just FYI.

    2. From my laptop last night, I looked all over your blog for that article but can’t find it? I’m debating making the switch but not sure yet. Can you help me find your post? Thanks!

I just tried clicking on all the links, and they worked for me, but let me know if you have troubles in the future. And thanks for dropping the kids off yesterday!

Hey! I saw him clearing snow when I dropped the kids off. Definitely a blessing for going to church, even though it was a pain. Glad you’re able to get out now.

Oh-and a quick question—if I click on the links within your posts and try to open in a new tab, it won’t let me. Do you think it’s just my computer?

I’m glad to hear you are finally shoveled (or bobcat’d) out. I finally got my mailbox cleared over the weekend and now we are good to go. At least till the next snow. I’m now following you everywhere around the blogosphere and can’t wait to meet you at bloggy bootcamp in Baltimore. Yeah!! Enjoy the week.
