Strawberry Pickin’

Wednesday, June 4, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

The strawberries are ripe again! We met a bunch of friends at the Orchard to go berry picking. We came home with 14 pounds of this:
I was happy to see positive interaction between the kids while we were picking–They played, laughed, worked together…..it made me actually look forward to the Summer (which starts for us next week!)
Noodle cracked me up by saying that this strawberry looked like a cow’s bottom. When I said, “what??” she explained that it reminded her of the “part underneath where the milk comes out.”
Taco, like he does with so many other things, was 100% focused on picking. He occasionally came up to me with his stats: “Mom! I have 57 strawberries now!” He almost had a break-down when Apple tipped his flat over and spilled his cache.
Reese is shaping up to be the perfect babysitter. She spent a bunch of time entertaining Lexi…
And then when Kate came, she took her by the hand and helped her find good picking spots.

Aren’t they cute together?! Reese needs a younger sister (Haha! We’ll let her enjoy our friends’ and family’s younger girls)
Apple never really got into strawberry picking…..but he made his own fun! When he wasn’t dancing around with a basket on his head, he was hopping over rows of berries or throwing strawberries as far as he could toss them…..What a typical 3-year-old!
Melissa enjoyed having new subjects to photograph….We didn’t realize until afterwards that it would have been good of us to turn our cameras around and take pictures of each other enjoying time with our kids! Next time….Thanks for the pictures, Lis!
That’s me peeking in the side of the frame. I had to crop out the unsightly large bottom to our right, though. Bend at the knees…..
