Take Your Pix Board Book Albums Review

Monday, June 13, 2011 by Lolli 4 Comments

Way back when, I was an avid scrapbooker. I still have the stickers and the paper and the gel pens to prove it. However, my scrapbooking partner moved, my life got busier, I started blogging…..and scrapbooking fell to the way side.

Take Your Pix

I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I got my hands on a Take Your Pix Board Book Album.

Last weekend, I mentioned to CandyMan that I needed to pick up some photos at Target on the way home from an event. He said, “What? Pictures? You mean printed pictures on paper?” Yes, hunny. Printed photos. Of our Costa Rican vacation in November. I had been eager to make some kind of remembrance of our trip, but I hadn’t had the time or the energy to do anything with the pictures yet.

I sat down on the family room floor with those printed photos on Sunday afternoon. The kids were intrigued immediately. My stickers and other supplies were spread out on the ground around me, and I put my creative hat on. In no time at all, I realized with satisfaction, my photo book was complete. I was darn happy with the results, and everyone loved looking through the pages for the rest of the evening.

What surprised me the most about designing my book was how quick the process was. It took me about an hour and a half (and for any of you who have created a vacation scrapbook OR designed a photo book online you know that photo books usually take SO much more time. I did notice that pens didn’t work very well on the glossy finish. But stickers were perfect.

A few things to know about Take Your Pix Albums: Board Book Albums, LLC was created by Laura Miranti, a mom of 4. In 2007, when her daughter Lucia was a year old, they started noticing some developmental delays. They began meeting with a therapist who recommended that she find Lucia a photo album to fill with photos of her family, toys, and other familiar objects in her world. When Laura was unable to find a kid-friendly photo album, she came up with the idea to create a board book photo album. Finally a kid-friendly, parent-friendly photo album. Board Book Albums, LLC is still a woman-owned and operated business, and I love to be able to support her!

Now for the contest details!!

And as always, the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own as well. The Design Team Search Contest is open to everyone, anywhere. Board Book Albums has the right to use any or all of the design photos that are submitted for consideration on their website for marketing purposes, etc.

Yes, I love those rub-off thingies too. ;-)

We don’t have little hands to mess with the stick-ups anymore so we went all out with our design. ;-)

I used 98% stickers. I had just a few rub-ons (not quite sure what those are called) but they worked beautifully. I wanted something that didn’t stick up or tempt little kids to rip them off.

Wow! I guess your past scrapbooking days paid off, because making your board book in record time is awesome! Any tips? Looks like you used mostly stencils or stickers, is that true? A ton of time was punching out the paper-stenciled letters and definitely pushed my carpel tunnel to the limits. ;-)
