Team work

One of my favorite Christmas memories as a kid and now that I have my own children is making caramel. Each year it gets a little easier for me as the kids get a little more capable and helpful. I was shocked at how much AJ was able to wrap! The other kids are pros by now. We whipped through the first batch tonight in no time. They know exactly what to do…

KitKat cuts the caramel while Twizzler and Necco and Reese spread little pieces of waxed paper all over the table. Sadly, I end up having to cut the wrappers the entire time just to keep up with the kids. Each little square of caramel gets it’s own piece of paper, and the secret wrapping method is carefully taught to the younger kids.

I often have to re-wrap caramels….or at least reserve the messiest wrap jobs for our family’s consumption. In the end, we have a big basket of wrapped caramels and I am one step closer to a cavity. These things are SO GOOD!

AJ’s very first wrapped caramel. He was so proud! Did that look tame enough? Granted I left out the hour that it took me this morning to make the candy…… This is what the wrapping process looked and sounded like to me (note: the song playing in the background is Disney’s version on Mambo #5. Kinda strange music to be playing at Christmas time, I know, but the kids were in the mood for our “party mix.”)
