On Wednesday night, on our way home from cub scouts, Activity Days, and Young Women’s, Necco “reminded” me that I had signed up to be a chaperone for her 5th grade field trip The Next Morning. We got home at 9pm, and despite the fact that I hate calling people later, I made a quick phone call and miraculously found someone to watch AJ for the entire school day.
Thursday morning was rushed. CandyMan had an early morning meeting and KitKat missed her bus, which meant that I had to get the younger kids up out of bed, shove them in the car, and drive to the middle school when I really should have been getting ready.
In the end, I got to the school on time and had a very successful field trip. No one got lost or hurt. I even heard a student exclaim, “This is the best field trip ever!!” How many 5th graders get to hop on a bus and take a little day trip to see sights like these?
For the record, I also heard another student complain that she had never walked so much in her entire life.
Yes, my feet are still killing me!

Yep, growing up in CAlifornia, we took our field trips to the missions and the redwood forest and such. I love seeing these old historical sites on the East.

WOw that would be a cool field trip. Living an nearly the complete opposite side of the country from these sites, we went places like the bison range for field trips. And my poor kids I’m not even sure they’ve been on field trips cause there is NOTHING to see (except the state park and they have already been there many times. Oh one day I’d like to visit DC.
