The Company Picnic was HOT HOT HOT!

Sunday, June 8, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

When we got to Peanut Butter’s company picnic this afternoon at 4:00, the outside temperature was fluctuating between 97 and 100 degrees. It was HOT. Poor Taco had a really hard time adjusting to the heat. His head was immediately sweaty.

Apple, on the other hand, had already had a full and tiring day, and so he slept, sweat and all, for the first 1 1/2 hours of the picnic (under the covered pavilion, thank goodness)
Taco felt much better after the snow cone machine opened. He never complained again. :)
Reese was the clown’s first face-painting customer, and ended up being her best repeat client. By the end of the evening, she had painted just about all of her available skin.
Here’s her first design:
And here are a few of the later designs (the paint didn’t hold up that well with all of the sweating and rubbing that was going on today!)
Peanut Butter was first up against his boss in the ping pong tournament. His boss is REALLY good, and PB was sad that he was eliminated so early. But he still had fun.
Apple had fun in the sand, which he called ICE to be silly. I think he was trying out positive thinking….
Noodle was running from one activity to another all day. She was pretty good at horse shoes.
Apple must have spent a good hour in the moon bounce. At one point, he called me over and said, “Mom, come take a picture of me!” After he jumped around for a bit, he came over to my side and gave me this lovely face:
Towards the end of the evening, the skies started darkening….and then lightning started off in the distance….and then it was suddenly on top of us! After being so hot all day long, Kiwi and Reese were eager to get wet and cool off. And then we noticed a rainbow!

The rain certainly cooled everyone off, but it wasn’t long before my two wet girls were complaining that they were too cold!

It was a great day! Of course, I spent the whole time taking pictures and eating….Perfect for me!
