Top 10 Reasons I Want Dish Network

Saturday, March 26, 2011 by Lolli 5 Comments

Really old TVWe haven’t had TV for years. We do have a television set. We just can’t watch anything on it except for DVDs and videos. Yes, we still have a VHS player hooked up to our TV. Some say we are living in the stone ages. (By the way, my TV is more modern than the one pictured, although it’s apparently too old for me to hook my laptop into. Darn!)

I admit, despite my husband’s insistence that we avoid TV in the house, I have coveted my friends’ channel selections more than once. In fact, the other day, a neighbor asked me to babysit while her son napped and she ran a quick errand. I had brought a book to read, but I was glued to the Today Show like my kids are glued to Sponge Bob when we visit the grandparents.

Top 10 reasons I wish I could get DISH

  1. I love watching the news. I find it extrememly boring to eat breakfast or lunch at the kitchen table without something to read or watch. I guess I have a hard time turning my brain off.
  2. TV is a great relaxer and time-filler. Not that I have a ton of time that needs filling….
  3. Dish Network has the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Is there any better reason than wanting to have some kid-bribing leverage?
  4. I’d save money on movie theater tickets by watching movies at home instead.
  5. I’d save money on DVD rentals, too.
  6. I could stay on top of my favorite TV shows (which I currently have to try to watch late online).dish network
  7. DVR. I’ve always wanted it, and Dish Network offers a great DVR package.
  8. It’s a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
  9. I deserve some down time.
  10. Bundled internet. Because everyone knows I need a good internet connection.

Do you have Dish Network and love it? Let me know what your favorite things are about your TV service.

Note: This post was sponsored by Dish Network but the top 10 list and opinions are 100% my own. I just don’t think it’s gonna convince my husband. We’ll see.

Dish Network does offer an awesome channel line-up, and having a DVR is great!

But their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I have regular cable, but my grandparents have Dish. There have been many many issues with the CS, but I’ll just tell you about the most recent.

My grandfather passed away in January. The bill was due shortly after that. I called in, planning to switch the service into my grandma’s name, and pay the bill on the phone. Once I explained to them that my grandfather had passed, they refused to accept payment until we had faxed them a death certificate. We didn’t even have a death certificate yet! They assured me the service wouldn’t be interrupted, though. Well, when I finally got the death certificate, faxed it in, and called back to pay the bill, they charged us a late fee!!!

Can you believe it? I was steamed. Anyway, they do have excellent programming, but I can’t recommend them because of the customer service issues we’ve experienced.

We have had Dish Network for years and love it! I like that we have such a huge amount of channels and the price still beats cable every time.

I work/subscribe with DISH Network and absolutely love my services! My favorite part would have to be their HD selection. They have the most HD channels than any other provider and give all their new and existing qualified customers HD Free for Life. It’s great! I also love the HD DVR which can record tons of SD and HD programming! The HD PPV selection is the best too! It really makes you feel like you are in the movie instead of watching it! Hope your husband changes his mind! :)

I do, and I love it! We actually don’t watch much TV and we have the most basic package dish offers (although they actually don’t offer my $19.00 package anymore but we still have it), but I literally have it for the DVR!! We record my favorite prime time shows like Law and Order, The Office, and Bones. My kids watch about an hour in the mornings since they are up so early and their school starts so late, but then it’s off for the rest of the day.
    LOVE DVR and love DISH
If my husband could have one thing, it would be to upgrade to some sports channels. We currently don’t have any.
