It’s raining this morning. A hurricane is coming.
But we still have power.
When I went to bed last night (on a blow up mattress in the basement, surrounded by kids), I fully expected to find the power out when I woke up. I also expected to sleep in this morning, since school is canceled for today and tomorrow already. Sadly, I hardly slept, suffering from a pain in my neck and anxiety about the storm.
I prepared as much as we could prepare. It’s easy to go through a check list – fill bowls and buckets with water, set out flashlights and candles, tie down all loose articles in the backyard, fill cars with gas, charge all electronics, camp out in the basement…
But the waiting is annoying.
Not knowing if we’ll be stuck without power for days, possibly more, is not pleasant.
So I bake. I write. I clean. I shower. Earliest shower I’ve taken in ages, by the way. I actually got out of bed while it was still dark so that I could shower while we still had hot water.
So much for sleeping in.
So here I wait.
Come and get us, #Sandy …
Are you in the storm’s path? What have you been doing to get ready?

Same thing here. It was pretty mild here, too. Only one tree down in my neighborhood.
I’m not complaining. :)

Sandy wasn’t so impressive here in SE Massachusetts, but that’s a good thing, right?

I’ll happily keep waiting if it means power stays on
