Was it the turkey?

Friday, November 28, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

I don’t know if it was the turkey or the CRAB that my kids ate last night, or simply the late night and another day off school, but the kids woke up in crabby moods today.

Reese was the first to wake me up–at 3:04am–because of a sore throat. I checked her throat….Surprise! Another red, lumpy-swollen throat and one more trip to the doctor this afternoon. Anybody want to make any bets about whether or not it will be case #6 (in the family) of strep this season?? Reese is miserable today. She has spent most of the day crying. But she’s not just crying–she’s causing problems for the other kids. She climbed into the bathtub while Al was taking a bath, which instantly set him off on a kicking, screaming fit. Because HE was the one kicking, I took him out and got him dressed. I had hardly had a chance to stand up before he had run BACK into the tub, fully dressed. He threw Rachel’s towel into the water at the same time. Joy!

At least that was funny enough for him to stop HIS crying. Reese refused to get out of the tub, even though her beloved cousin and Uncle had stopped by to pick up the forgotten phone from last night. By the way, can you read Al’s shirt? I fittingly dressed him in his LITTLE MONSTER shirt. And he WAS a little monster.

While I was taking my shower, Nerds decided to color a poster, and got completely offended by all of the other kids who wanted to share the table and the markers with her. Another screaming fight. Twizzler has been ok other than a short fight he had over two particular markers that HE wanted but Reese had taken. I am so sick of fighting children!!

KitKat avoided it all by sleeping in–in classic pre-teen fashion–as late as she could. (I am not complaining! I can only imagine how much worse the morning could have been if she had joined in the fighting!) She only came down when she heard cousin Nessa and Uncle Dan downstairs. And she totally lucked out by getting to go home with them for the weekend. Why is it that she’s so much more HELPFUL with other people’s kids and hosues than she is here? Actually, you don’t have to answer that question. :)

The silver lining in my day was finding this note, left by Twizzler for Nerds. Wow! What a brother! If only siblings were always this caring, observant, and humble. :)
