Washington DC Cherry Blossoms

Thursday, March 31, 2011 by Lolli 14 Comments

I was faced with a dilemma this morning.

The kids were out of school, and several of my friends had planned a trip to take all of our kids to DC for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

I wanted to go. Three of my kids really wanted to go (three of my kids have best buddies in one of the families that we were planning on going with).

But I knew that the weather was going to be cold and wet. I’ve taken my kids to DC when it has been cold and wet. I knew that I didn’t want to deal with wet, cold, tired, and whiny kids.

And then I had a stroke of brilliance (or maybe that was my husband…). I could stay home with the kids who didn’t want to make the trek downtown, along with the two babies from the other family. Basically, we’d swap kids. I’d stay home and let kids nap while my friend went downtown with the big kids.

The arrangement was perfection. Everyone had a fabulous time.

I tasked Necco, my 11 year old, with getting Cherry Blossom pictures. She did a fabulous job, despite the rain and all-around drab skies. Here’s what she came back with:

Meanwhile, I was at my friend’s house capturing pictures like this on my phone:

Yes, it really was the perfect arrangement.
