I love to dance.
I need to exercise more often.
I love when I can combine something I love with something I need to do. It’s the best of both worlds.
Except in MY world, I have a bad knee. I have to sleep with a pillow under my left knee every night because of pain. My day-to-day activities (minus walking down stairs) are just fine, but dancing – that thing that I love to do – can be tricky.
Tonight, my 3 girls and I exercised with 40 other moms and daughters at a ZUMBA FITNESS® class led by one of my favorite girls ever (I still think of her as a girl, even though she’s all grown up now. She used to be one of my kids’ babysitters many ages ago).
No, I did not turn the camera on our stinky, sweaty selves, but I did take a picture of my knee with my Salonpas pain relieving patch. If the package didn’t specifically say to only use one Salonpas at a time, I would have one in each shoulder, a really big one on my lower back, and one on my big toe.
Sometimes I feel old.
Another funny thing I wanted to share was this letter written by my 6 year old. Smart kid.
OK, that was SO not wordless. Hmmpf!

That letter is too funny! I’m sorry about your knee. I love exercising and dancing but my asthma gets in the way so I kinda know how that feels.

That note is just the sweetest thing ever! Hope the knee is better :)

Thanks for the linky! Love your son’s note – the mind of a 6 year old and most of us adults (sleep!).

That’s so awesome you joined in on Zumba! I’ve always been intimidated by it, but maybe I’ll have to give it a try as a post-baby workout:) That letter is too cute!

It’s pretty bad this morning, but my tonight it will be back to it’s normal mild ache again. :) And? It’s a date! Instead of beers we’ll be passing the pain patches. ;)

Wish I was more coordinated. It sounds like a fun way to burn some calories. And love that you are doing it with your girls. Sorry about the knee though… Bummer. Aging sucks sometimes.
Lolli says
You should do it. It’s so much fun! Old injuries that act up…not so much fun. ;)
Lolli says
I got a whole package of the patches and think I’ll be using them a lot this week. ;)

I have yet to try Zumba!
Lolli says
Oh, dont worry about Zumba….my injury happened a year and a half ago and almost anything I do aggravates it. Even laying down in bed makes it hurt. I was talking with my friend the Zumba instructor and reminded myself that physical therapy might be in order. :)
Lolli says
Yep – I’ve only done Zumba on the wii. Still fun, but not quite the same as a room full of 40 of your friends. :)
Elena says
I love love love Zumba- even took classes at a studio for over a year. Now I am relegated to Zumba on the xbox, that although still fun, not the same. And yes, although we already knew this–very smart young man. xo

I’m so glad to hear that I’m not the only old person with aches and pains. I’ve had a few hip problems lately. It’s beginning to affect my running. :( Maybe I need some of those patches too! lol
