I’ve always got my eyes open for crafts that are easy enough for the kids to do. I saw a picture of these adorable toilet paper roll pumpkins somewhere in passing and figured that they were a craft that anyone in the family (anyone, period!) could handle. Since I only had a random picture in my mind, I grabbed some supplies at the store and figured the simple design out…in about 3 minutes. It’s that easy.
Supplies needed:
- Toilet paper rolls
- Fabric (I used 9×21 inch pieces of fabric)
- Matching ribbon
- Thick sticks (longer than the length of a toilet paper roll)
- Serrated knife
How to make no-sew pumpkin decorations:
- This is so simple, it’s almost embarrassing. Take a piece of fabric and wrap it around a full, new roll of toilet paper.
- Tuck fabric into the top hole of the roll of TP (and under the bottom of the roll, as well).
- Place the stick into the hole.
- Tie a bow onto the stick.
- You’re done!
Isn’t it crazy how simple this is? I’ve had my pumpkins on display in my family room for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve already gotten compliments from people coming over to my house. No one ever guesses that the cute pumpkins are no-sew AND that the fabric is covering a simple roll of toilet paper.
Variation: I thought it would be fun to mix up the size just a little, so I got my biggest serrated knife and attempted to cut a roll of toilet paper in half. It was not as easy as I had thought it would be. The first thing I learned: Remove the cardboard roll BEFORE trying to cut the roll of TP. Slice slow and easy – there will be a lot of mess. After I got the roll cut in half, I brushed a bunch of the extra shavings in the trash before wrapping it up in the fabric. Once wrapped, there’s no mess to worry about.
The other thing I love about this craft is that the material doesn’t need to be cut, so technically it can be reused for other crafts later. Now I just have to make some time for more crafting!

Very cute! I’ll have to keep it in mind for next fall. Although, I think I’d use an electric saw to cut the roll in half ;)

Great idea…of course i’m much to cheap to cut up a roll of tp in our house but I do think this would make a fun way to keep rolls disguised in the guest bathroom!

What a great idea, and you can buy fabric for each holiday/season! 3 rolls can be a snowman with some cute winter fabric! ;)

No Sew….two of the sweetest words to my crafty ears. And these are so cute!! Being able to kick out a craft in minutes, not have to sew, AND get to reuse your fabric? WINNER!!
