Holiday Shopping – Holiday Shipping

Monday, December 14, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

I am a plan-ahead kind of holiday shopper. I make detailed lists and check things off as I purchase them. I know exactly what I’m getting for everyone, and except for those hard-to-find items, holiday shopping is rather fun for me. For the last eight years or so, I’ve been making each member of my family a customized calendar with pictures of each family member, plus all of the birthdays and anniversaries through the year. I have been doing it for so long that I have the system down pat. Except for the finding-time-to-do-it part.

When it comes to holiday SHIPPING, I am less on-the-ball. I tend to leave my shipping til the last minute. I want to get everything ready before I make the ONE trip out to mail them. What is the quickest way to get my packages where they need to go? And more importantly, what is the cheapest route? Really, for me, it’s all about time and money.

FedEx packing services

When I ship packages there are a few things you can count on: I will reuse a box that has been shipped to me (if I ever move, I will have quite the supply of folded up boxes ready and waiting) and I will stock up on packages that need to be mailed before making a trip out to FedEx, UPS, or the post office.

I was asked to be on a FedEx blog tour this holiday season. Not only does FedEx Ground cost 10% less than UPS Ground, but the new FedEx Office Print & Ship Centers offer customized calendars, cards, and stationery in addition to packing tips and assistance. I love the fact that I can stop in at FedEx and accomplish more than one thing while I’m there. Again, the time factor. Better yet, I could use FedEx Express and arrange a same-day pickup of outbound shipments to anywhere within the US or worldwide. I can handle not having to leave the house to mail my packages.

Now here’s the exciting part: In conjunction with this tour, anyone who signs up for a free account on fedex.com and records their name and confirmation number *here* will be entered to win one of 5 Apple iPod Touches! This opportunity is open to everyone!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of FedEx and received a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
