Long Drives Elicite Random Thoughts

Thursday, December 23, 2010 by Lolli 2 Comments

First of all, I wouldn’t recommend trying to blog after spending 17 hours in a car. It doesn’t work very well.

You know you’re tired and loopy when you stop at a gas station and see a Blockbuster video store, point and say, “Look! It’s a dinosaur!” I swear I meant to say Blockbuster, and dinosaur came out of my mouth by mistake. Talk about a Freudian slip. CandyMan and I laughed until our sides hurt and completely mortified the kids, who were sitting in the back of the van (which has tinted windows), worried that we were embarrassing them. Geesh!

The car ride to Florida was a success. Meaning that we made it safely to the beach house without killing each other, had a peaceful dinner with Nana, Grandpap, and Uncle B, and even had time to unpack and settle in. The kids are planning on surviving the next week eating nothing but Lucky Charms.

Today, we’re heading out for last minute Christmas shopping with Nana, walks on the beach, and more TV-watching than we’ve done all year. Since we don’t have TV at home, watching Nick Jr and the Disney Channel are the kids’ favorite thing to do on vacation.

Me? I am enjoying short sleeves and sandals, sleeping in, and spending time with my kids. Merry Christmas!
