My Baby is Six – PSF GMYBS Link-up

Thursday, May 19, 2011 by Lolli 17 Comments

If I had any doubts about the fact that my baby is growing up, those doubts are gone today. Yesterday, AJ celebrated his 6th birthday. I remember when KitKat turned six years old. She seemed so old. Now with my baby turning 6 and my oldest in high school, gone are the days of bottles, sippy cups, diapers (at least during the day….but that’s a different story), cribs, naps, strollers, baby carriers.

We are fully in the age of reading, school and homework, friends, bikes, play dates, sports, scouts, and activities.

My kids are getting big.

I think AJ has been trying to hold on to his baby years for a little longer, and has been driving me crazy this week with baby talk, misbehaving, smart-mouth remarks, and everything else he can think of to make me mad.

At one point during the day yesterday, AJ was pushing all my buttons. Every time I’d try to get him to stop what he was not supposed to be doing or DO what he was supposed to be doing, he’d run through the halls scream-whining “Mommy is a meany! She’s so mean to me!” I mumbled under my breath, “Do you want to live to see your next birthday??” and he added “Help! Mommy is going to kill me!” to his chant. I swear I can see his attitude in the pictures that I took of him yesterday.

I’m happy to say that he did make it through the day. And I still love him and want to keep him around…..for at least another year.

For some reason, these pictures made me happier in black and white. The cupcakes, in case you were wondering, were confetti with blue frosting. I make a mean cupcake.

    Happy birthday to AJ!

Kids…you love them and want to kill them, right?

I love that his sisters are making sure to keep him safe in the pictures, too.

I agree – there is something about the black and white. I love the shot of him opening presents with his tongue sticking out! Such fun!

Aww, thanks! And I am so glad that I am not the only mom who hears that. Most of the time, AJ is my overly affectionate kid and tells me he loves me ALL the time. So I’m not too worried about how her REALLY feels about me. :)
