The freak snow storm that hit the East Coast last weekend was quite the exciting news around the Washington DC suburbs. We’ve lived here for nearly 14 years and have never had snow this early in the season. We comment every year that we’re either in shorts or winter coats for Halloween…but we’ve NEVER had snow in October.
Apparently, it hasn’t snowed in the DC area in the month of October since 1979, and last week’s storm was only the 3rd in recorded history.
The two younger kids were eager to get out in the snow and play a little (yes, Reese was wearing flip flops, shorts, and a Halloween cape in the snow) but the rest of us just enjoyed a little extra time inside.

Yes, I know that this is not much snow…but holy cow! It was October!

valuable facts to us, keep it up.
I love snow but never got a chance to enjoy it as the place where I live is usually hot. I would love to play in snow. You and your kids are lucky to have enjoyed the snow. Lovely pics
Who ever would have thought we’d be looking at snow on Halloween? Thousands in my state still have no power. Luckily I’m far enough south that we didn’t get that much.
I don’t like snow any time of year, but October just seems crazy. I’m so glad I don’t live where it gets cold. Even though it does look really pretty falling in the trees like that.
What awesome shots of them looking up at the snowflakes. Sheesh– I thought OUR Halloween was cold!
Oh no snow. Lots of parents were talking about how glad we were glad we did not get this storm. Makes for good memories though.
Awesome photos!

Wow! D.C. almost never get snow this early! What wonderful pictures!
It sure looks pretty but caused quite a mess in our state.
Nope, boo to this. I did NOT like getting snowed on.
Looks like everyone had tons of fun!
The weather is getting crazy everywhere!! It’s been raining here every single day.
Happy WW!
Whao.. it’s snowing already where you are living. must be real fun trick and treating in the snow this year.
Wow…so early this year. Does that mean it will be a long winter? I can’t even imagine…
We got snowed in and Halloween was canceled here, but we still had fun.
I love snow! (says the unwilling resident of muggy Houston, TX)
Gorgeous shots.
Snow on Halloween is just wrong! I remember growing up in Wyoming and being SO mad that I had to put a coat on over my costume!
I want snow! Cute Pictures!
So insane!! My brother in MD just got power back after like two days!
I am glad we didn’t get any snow yet… not a fan here. and no little kids in the house to enjoy it (or help shovel it, LOL) glad they had a fun time and it didn’t get too deep to hamper Halloween fun.
I’m glad that’s not me, but it certainly makes for great blog fodder and pics! Happy WW! :)
we are still scratching our heads over the weekend’s snow storm – great pics – love the pic of hubby, perfect expression :)
I’m glad that isn’t me, but it certainly makes for fab blog fodder and pics! :) Happy WW!
What freaky weather. Today in KS was in the 70s! So odd. I really love the pics you captured – especially your son’s quizzical face. He’s like WTH? LOL!!
Oh my goodness!! Wow. I remember early snow in Michigan! Usually none at Halloween though, although it felt like it :) Great snapshots!
These pictures are fantastic! And wait a minute… snow?
Surprisingly the snow missed us. Love your shots. The last one is really pretty.
Thanks for linking up at tots and me
Gaahhh! Snow! Great photos :)

We had snow too on Saturday, crazy! Beautiful photos :)
I LOVE the colorful leaves with the snow flakes falling. Cool shot.
I’m actually jealous that you guys got snow already! :( I can’t wait for it to snow here in MO. By the way, I love that pic of your husband. I can see where your kids get their fabulous facial expressions from. lol
I can’t believe you got snow before us!!

Isn’t that funny? It was unseasonably warm here in the West. Kids were walking around in shorts wondering where their storm was. Coincidentally, we awoke to snow covered mountains.
You got some great photos from your day! Glad you shared!
