October 2011 East Coast Snow Storm – Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday, November 1, 2011 by Lolli 34 Comments

The freak snow storm that hit the East Coast last weekend was quite the exciting news around the Washington DC suburbs. We’ve lived here for nearly 14 years and have never had snow this early in the season. We comment every year that we’re either in shorts or winter coats for Halloween…but we’ve NEVER had snow in October.

Apparently, it hasn’t snowed in the DC area in the month of October since 1979, and last week’s storm was only the 3rd in recorded history.

The two younger kids were eager to get out in the snow and play a little (yes, Reese was wearing flip flops, shorts, and a Halloween cape in the snow) but the rest of us just enjoyed a little extra time inside.

Yes, I know that this is not much snow…but holy cow! It was October!

I love snow but never got a chance to enjoy it as the place where I live is usually hot. I would love to play in snow. You and your kids are lucky to have enjoyed the snow. Lovely pics

Who ever would have thought we’d be looking at snow on Halloween? Thousands in my state still have no power. Luckily I’m far enough south that we didn’t get that much.

I don’t like snow any time of year, but October just seems crazy. I’m so glad I don’t live where it gets cold. Even though it does look really pretty falling in the trees like that.

I am glad we didn’t get any snow yet… not a fan here. and no little kids in the house to enjoy it (or help shovel it, LOL) glad they had a fun time and it didn’t get too deep to hamper Halloween fun.

Isn’t that funny? It was unseasonably warm here in the West. Kids were walking around in shorts wondering where their storm was. Coincidentally, we awoke to snow covered mountains.

You got some great photos from your day! Glad you shared!
