Over the last several months, I’ve become obsessed with making unique varieties of rice krispie treats. I’ve tried everything from chocolate and peanut butter to caramel and sea salt. It’s hard to pick a favorite (it depends on the day of the week and the mood that I’m in!). I’ve experimented enough now that it’s finally time to bring all of the recipes together into one post.

This is really simple, no (real) extra steps or ingredients and really AMPS UP the taste. When you melt the butter, continue cooking until you have lightly browned it. Browned butter makes a world of difference.

I usually make rice krispy treats to use up the odds and ends of cereal and glued together marshmallows in my cupboard–last weekend it was the box of accidentally purchased plain cheerios that was never going to be eaten in a house full of honey nut fans, but I’m definitely going to have to plan ahead and try the butterfinger ones!
