Southwest Turkey Burgers

Monday, September 29, 2014 by Lolli 9 Comments

This post brought to you by Butterball Every Day. All opinions are 100% mine.

As my kids have gotten older, I’ve noticed something – I seem to have less time than I’ve ever had to get dinner on the table. Between homework, after school activities, sports, and my own work that always carries over into the afternoon and evening hours, it can be tough for me to provide good-tasting, wholesome foods for the family to eat everyday.

Last week, before my trip to LA, I had an even harder time figuring something good to serve for dinner….but luckily, Butterball came to the rescue for us on my last night home. I picked up some Butterball Turkey Burgers in my grocery store’s freezer section while I was out running those last pre-trip errands along with a package of buns. Everything else I needed for the perfect (and perfectly easy) dinner was already in my kitchen.

I had some fresh roasted salsa in the fridge that I thought would make a delicious starting point for some out-of-the-ordinary burgers. What I came up with on the fly turned out to be one of the best burgers I’ve eaten in ages, and a total hit with the family.

Southwest Turkey Burgers

Southwest Salsa Turkey Burgers

Ingredients:

  • Butterball Turkey Burgers – Original Seasoned
  • Provolone or pepper jack cheese, sliced
  • ¼ cup roasted tomato salsa
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • Cilantro
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Avocado, sliced thin

Directions:

  1. Heat turkey burgers according to package directions (I grilled mine on my indoor grill). Top with a slice of cheese during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, if desired.
  2. In a small bowl, mix mayo and salsa. Spread generously on bun. Top bun with burger and desired toppings. I highly recommend adding plenty of fresh cilantro with your lettuce layer, as that was one of my favorite additions!
  3. Dig in and enjoy!

PS – get the recipe for my FAVORITE salsa HERE.
