Snow plows are highly over rated.
I mean….who needs them, really? Certainly not me.
Especially for a little snow storm like this.
(Yes, that was the view from my front steps during the storm on Saturday)
This is the same view on Sunday:
Can I just tell you how RELIEVED I am that I have NO pressure to do anything productive outside the house this week? I am totally OFF THE HOOK!
Yes, this is really my car. It’s not going anywhere.
Neither are the kids, apparently. School has already been canceled for Monday AND Tuesday, and another storm is headed our way on Tuesday night. So guess where they’ll be on Wednesday?
Not at school. I can almost guarantee it.
I am SO HAPPY that we get to spend SO much time together in our little house!
YES!
And that brings me back to the snow plow. Who needs snow plows when you’ve got so many neighbors, a bunch of shovels, and even more TIME on your hands?
I totally prefer digging out of 30 inches of snow by hand. Snow plows, you can just skip our court this week. We’ve got it covered.
I was bored on Sunday so I whipped up a batch of cinnamon rolls, thanks to my friend Brandie who made a video for me and got me thinking about them the other day. Of course, I was craving them on Saturday when I didn’t have power, and I woke up thinking that I just had to make them today.
They weren’t good or anything.
I will not accept any responsibility for cinnamon roll cravings. Nor will I accept any blame for gained weight.
It’s all Brandie’s fault.
This has definitely been a Winter to remember!

Yes, I’ve been having fun with my camera. Strangely, though, my kids aren’t in many of them. They seem to prefer to stay warm inside. Haha!

Yes, all Wed night activities are cancelled at the church. I just got the official call.
I am SO SORRY about weevels taking over everything!! Even popcorn? That big huge bag? Ugh!!
Lolli says
Don’t you wish you were here with me right now?! :) I just noticed your last post. Gotta go run over there now!
Lolli says
You don’t have to feel bad for me. ;) Despite the whining I did last week about being so OVER the snow, it’s been really peaceful around here.
Jenny says
Wow that is a lot of snow, glad ya’ll did okay thru it. Makes for very pretty pictures though :) I hope tomorrow’s storm is not to bad.
Those Cinnamon Rolls look heavenly.

Wow, it’s amazing how everyone is pulling together to get things done around here! Now if only it was like this all the time, we might have an even more amazing state to live in.
Those rolls look soooo good! I wanted to make some this weekend too but sadly…weevels. No flour or popcorn! Going to pout now.
(Do you think we could cancel ALL activities this week? Like the one at church on Wednesday night?)

Are you in the DC area? ‘Cause your snaps look like my Mom’s snaps! I can’t believe it…I grew up in NoVa, and this looks worse than the Blizzard of ’96! I go to school in Wisconsin, Land of the Frozen Tundra, and we only got a few flakes the other day. Unbelievable!

The neighbors are all back outside digging some more. I am feeling a little guilty being inside working on my computer today while they’re out there clearing the road!
We’re supposed to get another 6 inches tomorrow!
Lolli says
Yes, today I might make some cookies. Only one cinnamon roll left. Uh oh!
Lolli says
Believe it or not, we’re doing just fine. The kids are now rearranging the furniture in their room. This could turn out to be a good week!
Lolli says
I make them about twice a YEAR. Not too often.
Enjoy your lack of snow. LOL!
Lolli says
You ARE lucky that you never lost power! It’s amazing all of those little things that you take for granted with the power!
Lolli says
So far so good. We’re on day 3 1/2 of being inside, though. It could turn bad today!
Lolli says
It really is unbelievable. We typically don’t have much snow stick to the ground around here, so this is a huge deal!
angie says
Unbelievable, Laura.
I can’t believe how much snow you have.
Are you dying?
Nicole says
Well, it’s snowing here now! Nothing like yours thank goodness. I think were suppose to get a whopping 3 inches. Just enough to make the roads bad and people drive like idiots!
I cannot believe you all dug yourselves out like that! One of the last blizzards I can remember I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, my husband just had shoulder surgery and he couldnt even lift his arm, shoveling was not an option. I did it and now I know why the boy came 3 weeks early!!!

Wow! That’s some serious snow!! It looks like those yummy cinnamon rolls made the storm bearable. ;)
Brandie says
Those look so yummy! My husband told me I can’t make them twice in one week EVER. And I highly doubt any weight will be gained if you keep shoveling haha!! You guys are getting all our snow. I am not complaining at all but I am pretty sure all our snow is going to come in March and April this year boo!

We feel so lucky that we never lost power. You just don’t realize how much of our lives depend on it. We lost power a while back and I realized we didn’t have a hand can opener. No tuna for us. Glad you survived without too much hardship.
Fingers crossed that this next storm isn’t too bad!
Jess says
that’s a lot of snow! I hope you guys don’t get cabin fever!

Yes, it was completely done by hand. I was speechless and thought the neighbors were crazy when they started, but with so many people working together, it actually worked. I’m sure there are a lot of sore people this morning, though!
Amanda says
Oh. My. Word. That is unbelieveable!!!! Wow! Seriously, I’m like speechless.
I’m in the midlands of SC and we haven’t had ANY snow stick to the ground more than half a day (and it was 1/4 inch at that) in six years!

I took a walk around the neighborhood last night, and I was jealous because I thought that your street had gotten a pass through with the plow, and we hadn’t. You mean that was all done by hand? Almost everyone who comes down our street has to get dug out. And, all I wanted to do on Sunday was bake too. I missed having the power Saturday. Mostly for the oven though!
