Who Needs Snow Plows?

Monday, February 8, 2010 by Lolli 36 Comments

Snow plows are highly over rated.

I mean….who needs them, really? Certainly not me.

Especially for a little snow storm like this.

where's the sidewalk?

(Yes, that was the view from my front steps during the storm on Saturday)

This is the same view on Sunday:

Sidewalk

Can I just tell you how RELIEVED I am that I have NO pressure to do anything productive outside the house this week? I am totally OFF THE HOOK!

Yes, this is really my car. It’s not going anywhere.

My car is stuck in the snow

Neither are the kids, apparently. School has already been canceled for Monday AND Tuesday, and another storm is headed our way on Tuesday night. So guess where they’ll be on Wednesday?

Not at school. I can almost guarantee it.

I am SO HAPPY that we get to spend SO much time together in our little house!

YES!

Happy Trails

And that brings me back to the snow plow. Who needs snow plows when you’ve got so many neighbors, a bunch of shovels, and even more TIME on your hands?

I totally prefer digging out of 30 inches of snow by hand. Snow plows, you can just skip our court this week. We’ve got it covered.

Who needs a snow plow?

I was bored on Sunday so I whipped up a batch of cinnamon rolls, thanks to my friend Brandie who made a video for me and got me thinking about them the other day. Of course, I was craving them on Saturday when I didn’t have power, and I woke up thinking that I just had to make them today.

They weren’t good or anything.

I will not accept any responsibility for cinnamon roll cravings. Nor will I accept any blame for gained weight.

It’s all Brandie’s fault.

cinnamon rolls

This has definitely been a Winter to remember!

Yes, I’ve been having fun with my camera. Strangely, though, my kids aren’t in many of them. They seem to prefer to stay warm inside. Haha!

You don’t have to feel bad for me. ;) Despite the whining I did last week about being so OVER the snow, it’s been really peaceful around here.

Wow, it’s amazing how everyone is pulling together to get things done around here! Now if only it was like this all the time, we might have an even more amazing state to live in.

Those rolls look soooo good! I wanted to make some this weekend too but sadly…weevels. No flour or popcorn! Going to pout now.

(Do you think we could cancel ALL activities this week? Like the one at church on Wednesday night?)

The neighbors are all back outside digging some more. I am feeling a little guilty being inside working on my computer today while they’re out there clearing the road!

We’re supposed to get another 6 inches tomorrow!

  21. Lolli says

    Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:51 am

Yes, today I might make some cookies. Only one cinnamon roll left. Uh oh!

Enjoy your lack of snow. LOL!

So far so good. We’re on day 3 1/2 of being inside, though. It could turn bad today!

  26. Lolli says

    Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:48 am

It really is unbelievable. We typically don’t have much snow stick to the ground around here, so this is a huge deal!

    Unbelievable, Laura.

I can’t believe how much snow you have.

    Are you dying?

  28. Nicole says

    Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:53 am

Well, it’s snowing here now! Nothing like yours thank goodness. I think were suppose to get a whopping 3 inches. Just enough to make the roads bad and people drive like idiots!

I cannot believe you all dug yourselves out like that! One of the last blizzards I can remember I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, my husband just had shoulder surgery and he couldnt even lift his arm, shoveling was not an option. I did it and now I know why the boy came 3 weeks early!!!

Those look so yummy! My husband told me I can’t make them twice in one week EVER. And I highly doubt any weight will be gained if you keep shoveling haha!! You guys are getting all our snow. I am not complaining at all but I am pretty sure all our snow is going to come in March and April this year boo!

We feel so lucky that we never lost power. You just don’t realize how much of our lives depend on it. We lost power a while back and I realized we didn’t have a hand can opener. No tuna for us. Glad you survived without too much hardship.

Fingers crossed that this next storm isn’t too bad!

Yes, it was completely done by hand. I was speechless and thought the neighbors were crazy when they started, but with so many people working together, it actually worked. I’m sure there are a lot of sore people this morning, though!

  34. Amanda says

    Monday, February 8, 2010 at 8:13 am

Oh. My. Word. That is unbelieveable!!!! Wow! Seriously, I’m like speechless.

I’m in the midlands of SC and we haven’t had ANY snow stick to the ground more than half a day (and it was 1/4 inch at that) in six years!

I took a walk around the neighborhood last night, and I was jealous because I thought that your street had gotten a pass through with the plow, and we hadn’t. You mean that was all done by hand? Almost everyone who comes down our street has to get dug out. And, all I wanted to do on Sunday was bake too. I missed having the power Saturday. Mostly for the oven though!
